Why we turn down most sites that apply

Roughly four in five publisher applications get rejected. What we check, and why saying no protects the publishers we accept.

We reject a little over four out of every five sites that apply to join the network. That is not a boast about exclusivity — it is a description of what the applicant pool looks like when word gets around that someone pays for placements.

The three most common reasons

Most rejections come down to one of three things, and none of them are close calls.

  • Traffic that does not survive verification. The claimed figure and the Ahrefs figure disagree by an order of magnitude, or the traffic is entirely branded and does not reflect topical authority.
  • A visible “write for us” page, which tells search engines the site sells placements and quietly devalues every outbound link on it.
  • An outbound link profile that scatters across unrelated commercial verticals — the clearest available signal that a site exists to sell links.

Why rejection protects the sites we accept

Every site in an inventory affects the perceived value of every other site in it. If we accepted everything that applied, the inventory would fill with sites that pass a metrics filter but fail any human inspection — and clients would eventually notice that placements stopped producing results.

The publishers who have been with us longest tend to be the ones who ask the most questions during onboarding. They care about what gets published on their site because the site is a real asset to them, not a monetisation vehicle. Those are the sites clients are pleased to appear on.

If you were rejected

We tell every applicant why. Some reasons are fixable — remove the “write for us” page, wait for traffic to build, stop labelling posts as sponsored — and we are happy to look again in six months. Some are not, and we will say so plainly rather than leaving you to reapply indefinitely.
